Organizing The Perfect Closet Once and For All
You have found the best apartment. Natural light is flooding in through the windows, the kitchen are roomy, and you can't wait to soak in the garden tub. As you start putting your stuff into the closet, it becomes evident you may have too many clothes. And shoes. Maybe your friend won the better closet, your spouse actually has more clothes than you, or the space is more awkward than you thought. Here are a few tricks to make the most out of your closet.
Hangers Trump Folded Piles!
Hangers are often accepted as a necessary evil. Purchasing hangers is a chore and not usually enjoyable. However, the types of hangers you use in your closet can increase or remove space. Using velvet hangers will increse so much availability in your closet and they are easy on the wallet. Also, keep your hangers the same color. It's all too easy to become distracted by unorganized hangers.
Organize with a Purpose!
After you've switched hangers, organize your pieces by color then sleeve length. Tell me if this sounds familiar - sorting through shirts to find immaculate printed pant. Dividing up your closet from summer to winter is easy, but have fun with it! Don’t forget you’re the one who has to live with it every morning.
Don't Think you can't Fold SOME Clothes!
Not every piece needs to have a hanger. Your jeans, shirts and sweaters can all be folded into drawers or shelves. Folding items will keep the closet volume workable. The difference between hanging and folded garments will ensure you see everything more readily.
If there is Space, Use it!
Utilize extra storage for the lower half of the closet. Keep the clothes you folded or accessories in the cubbies and organize shoes underneath. If there is still room, the top area of the organizer you should definitely use. There is no reason to leave empty space in a closet - only unused potential.
+1 for the Road...
If you have space in a bedroom, a rolling rack is the perfect addition to any closet. Plan your outfits daily or weekly, use your best pieces as decor, or simply use the said rolling rack as extra storage space.
